The Moderate Tropical Storm BHEKI has further weakened into a Tropical Depression over the last hours as it is evolving in an unfavourable environment. Analyses of available information indicate that no cyclonic conditions are expected over Mauritius.
At 16h00, the Tropical Depression BHEKI was centred at about 375 km to the east-northeast of Mauritius near latitude 19.3 degrees south and longitude 61.0 degrees east. It is moving in a general west-southwesterly direction at a speed of about 20 km/h.
Cloud associated with Tropical Depression BEKHI are approaching Mauritius from the east and will continue to influence weather over the island with passing showers, that may be moderate to locally heavy with isolated thunderstorm.
Wind will strengthen from the south-east 30 to 40 km/h with gusts of the order of 100 km/h in showers
Sea will remain very rough with swells of 4 to 6 metres in the open sea. The public is strongly advised not to venture out at sea as well as along the beaches..

Latest analysis are indicating that Tropical Cyclone BHEKI will start to weaken in the hours to come.
Analysis from latest satellite imagery is indicating that Severe Tropical Storm BHEKI is showing signs of weakening, as it is evolving in unfavourable environmental conditions.
At 04h00 hours, Severe Tropical Storm BHEKI was centred at about 750 km to the East-North-East of Mauritius, around latitude 18.6 degrees south and longitude 64.6 degrees east. It is moving in a west-south-westerly direction at a speed of about 14 km/h.
On this trajectory BHEKI is approaching Mauritius and represents a potential threat to the island.
The public in Mauritius is advised to take preliminary precautions.
Weather will be cloudy at times with showers, moderate at times more frequent over the Central Plateau.
Wind will blow from the south-east at a speed of about 25 km/h, strengthening gradually with gusts of 70 km/h.
Sea will be rough beyond the reefs with swells. It is advised not to venture in open seas, becoming gradually very rough tonight with waves of the order of 4 metres. It is advised not to venture at sea and to avoid venturing along the beaches.
